About Me
Hey there! I'm Fiona, and I'm thrilled to welcome you to Ember Physical Therapy! At Ember, my goal is to provide an environment where evidence-based practice, compassionate care, and a holistic approach come together to foster healing.
Compassionate and evidence-based care is at the core of my practice. I value each patient's unique needs and strive to create a welcoming environment where you feel comfortable and supported. Humans are not cookie-cutter, and your pelvic floor physical therapy shouldn’t be either! I believe in the power of combining evidence-based practices with a deep understanding of your unique needs, goals, and abilities. I believe that every patient deserves a bespoke treatment plan that is designed to get them feeling better.
Since graduating from Columbia University with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2015, I've dedicated myself to expanding my expertise through extensive continuing education. I've invested hundreds of hours of learning with the Herman and Wallace Institute, the Barral Institute, and the Institute of Physical Art. I also hold the Pelvic Rehabilitation Practioner Certification (PRPC).
Fiona is also a co-author of the chapter, "Musculoskeletal Management of Pelvic and Sexual Pain Disorders" in the Textbook of Female Sexual Function and Dysfunction: Diagnosis and Treatment.
Throughout my career spanning over eight years, I've had the privilege of working with hundreds of patients with pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction. Each interaction has shaped my practice and fueled my passion for making a difference in people's lives.
At Ember Physical Therapy, you can trust that you're in capable hands. I combine my extensive education, experience, and compassionate approach to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to your unique needs. My goal is to guide you on a journey towards improved well-being and a better quality of life.

What should I expect when I visit ember for my first appointment?During your initial evaluation, Fiona will take the time to truly understand your history, goals, and any medical information relevant to your care. This comprehensive discussion lays the foundation for designing a tailored plan that meets your unique needs. Fiona's expertise and compassionate approach ensure that you feel heard, understood, and supported throughout this process. To gain further insight into your condition, Fiona will perform a physical therapy examination starting with posture and strength assessments. These assessments help us understand the specific areas that require attention. Additionally, she may assess the mobility visceral structures which often contribute to pelvic pain and dysfunction. With your consent, we may perform an internal assessment of the pelvic floor to aid in developing a comprehensive treatment plan. It is important to note that all elements of the examination are completely based on your consent, and we respect your comfort level at all times. You have the right to delay or decline any part of the examination that you are uncomfortable with. Your comfort is of utmost importance to us. There is so much we can learn from other elements the physical therapy exam. So don’t fret if you’re not ready yet! After the exam, Fiona will then create a fully customized plan tailored specifically to you. This bespoke plan takes into account your individual bandwidth, goals, and the condition you are seeking to address. We understand that each person's journey is unique, and we strive to provide you with a plan that is perfect for you.

How long until I feel better? At Ember Physical Therapy, we understand that every patient's journey towards recovery is unique, and various factors can influence the timeline for improvement. Several key factors contribute to the pace at which you may experience relief and progress. The duration of your condition, the level of stress you may be experiencing, your ability to consistently perform the prescribed home program, and other individual factors all play a role in your healing process. While the duration of treatment can vary from person to person, it is typical for most patients to start noticing improvements between 5-6 visits. However, it's important to remember that healing is a gradual process, and each person's response to treatment is unique. Some individuals may notice improvement sooner, while others may require more time to achieve their desired outcomes Fiona will closely monitor your progress, make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan, and provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure you are on the right track towards your goals. Rest assured that your journey towards feeling better is our top priority. Fiona is committed to providing you with comprehensive care, empowering you to actively participate in your healing process, and guiding you towards optimal health and well-being. Together, we will work towards achieving the positive changes you deserve.
